Gabbeh rugs are tribal rugs originating in the south central region of the Zagros mountains in Iran. Women traditionally made these rugs which have geometric shapes and often told a story or conveyed an emotion through their design and bright colors. Gabbeh rugs are much thicker than other Persian rugs and are made of natural, hand-spun wool yarn and all the colors are created with natural plant dye.
