There is retouched paint where there was loss at the right and lower edges. There may previously have been a signature at this lower corner but no signature is discernible at this time. Examined under blacklight, there are old retouches on the forehead, nose, cravat, and lower sleeve at right. There are also a few minor retouches near the lower edge
