Description
Upholstered wing chair. One back leg is marked Queen Alexandra, attributed to Gillow & Waring Ltd. Sat in the Hvidøre Villa which was furnished in 1905 when the Royal sisters Queen Alexandra and Maria Feodorovna purchased it.It was later brought to Canada with the Grand Duchess Olga and sat in her living room in Cooksville. Attached is a photography of a painting of the chair upholstered in red as it sat in Olga's home. Attached is also a photo of the disbursement of Tikhon's estate between his third wife and daughter in which the chair is mentioned.Provenance: Acquired through decent from Tikhon Nikolaevich, the eldest son of the Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna of Russia, the sister to Tsar Nicholas II and daughter of Alexander III.
