Item Details
Description
AMERICO-BOHEMIAN RUBY-STAINED GOBLET WITH AMERICAN VIEW, colorless non-lead glass, tumbler-form bowl engraved on the front with a view of "Girard's Bank and Exchange", Philadelphia within a grooved frame, reverse with punties and stylized acorns, raised on a panel-cut stem and notched foot with rosette to underside. Probably Bohemia. Circa 1840-1860. 6 1/2" H, 3 1/4" D rim, 3 1/4" D foot.
Literature: For a discussion of similar examples see Jane Spillman, "Glasses With American Views," - Journal of Glass Studies, vol. XIX, pp. 134-146.
Provenance: Collection of the late J. Anthony "Tony" Stout, Washington, DC.
