Five of the raised 'beads' on the left wing of the butterfly bear a slight raising to the enamel around each bead. These areas are not matte and it is unclear if this was natural to the creation process. The orange decoration towards the top of the bottom section of the left wing appears to bear one pen-tip sized spot of repair to the enamel. The top section of the left wing has also slightly detached from the bottom section of the left wing. The orange enamel section on the bottom of the right wing sustains overpainting. The back of the piece bears spots of tarnish throughout.
