PROVENANCE:
Florian Papp, New York;
Acquired from above, 2000. The pair of ovoid baluster-form vases with flared rims, gilt decoration to exterior lip and platinum banding to necks, bodies with well-detailed and hand-painted floral scenery painted on cream ground, down to base with platinum banding and gilt border; the pair was painted by noted Paris porcelain decorator P. Hartwig. Retailed by Bailey, Banks, & Biddle in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Condition
Some gilt wear, significant wear to platinum decoration near bases, pieces may have originally been lidded, otherwise excellent condition.
