oak with beautifully chip carved pinwheels and stylized floral motifs with five lines of carved inscriptions in a Germanic and Latin language reading "De Liedfdeismyn En/Ick Ben Maek Ick/Wens Wel Datick/By Waer Waer/WMS Anno 1702", stepped and pierce carved handle with 10 pinwheels; 5.3 x 32.5" long, in untouched old polished patina. While not sure of the inscribed text above it appears to be Germanic and may translate as the following “The Wolf Desimone And / Ben Maek Ick Ick / Wish Well Datick / By Waer Waer / WMS Date 1702”.
Condition
A couple of minor edge chips on handle, else Fine.
