Description
Inscribed "Presented by Baron Mitsui to Mr. P. Walker 1908." Signed on side. Tested silver. Approx. 9" H. Approx. 48 ozt / 1504 grams. The small characters on center right, presumably read top to bottom, are illegible, possibly due to highly stylized written form. The remaining 2 characters on the left, read top to bottom, are Liu and Cho and mean "willow tree" and "beside the water bank" respectively. The box at the bottom is called Hanko and is the family stamp form of Liu Cho. Liu Cho has a very good meaning because of the relationship to nature, which is the hallmark of Asian names.
