Pro-slavery satirical handbill in the format of a theatrical performance announcement. Headed at top "National University, / Situated in N.Y. City / Grand / Semi-Pious / and / Anti-Theatrical / Performance, / For The / Benefit Of / Black Republicans / and Niggers Generally, / Wednesday, July 2, 1856." The text continues, at length, with tongue-in-cheek racial jabs, mocking of northern politicians, smearing of New York cultural institutions, and general bigotry. Imprinted at bottom "Printed by J.B. Bedbug, Liberia." [Sheet 23-3/4" x 6-1/2"]. Light age-toning, water stains, and horizontal fold wear with short tears at edges.
