Description
A Huari ceramic single vessel in the form of a fish. c.750-1100 AD, Huari, South Coast Peru. Pre-Columbian. Fish effigy vessel, decorated with buff, slip on the face with dark brown details on a red / brown ground. The fish type may be corvina (sea bass). Measures 13" long, 5" wide, 7" high.
NOTE: Includes the copy of the thermoluminescence test conducted in Stuttgart, Germany, 1990 (in German).
Provenance: Ex collection Benny Wagner - Geneva. Consignor purchased in 1995 from David Bernstein, Fine Art, New York.
Condition Note: Excellent. Restored chip to tail fin, prior to 1995.
