Description
Description: Oil on canvas painting that depicts the vastness of the Florida Everglades. The left side depicts a portion of the swamp land crowded with overgrown plants and palm trees jutting out as if an island. The brightness of the sun shines through the billowing white clouds. Signed lower left, "Henry Parker." Housed in original gold gilt frame with additional matting and wood frame.
History: Henry Parker was born in 1938, Norristown, PA. He later moved to Cape May, NJ, where he spent his early years. He then moved to England, where he studied art near London. In 1958, Parker won an art scholarship to study at the University of Miami’s Lowe Gallery. The Miami News said of Mr. Parker: “Henry Parker’s paintings… do not glamorize the sea. The artist portrays the sea in some of its most forbidding moods as well as at the most translucently delightful times, when the early sun shines through the mist and strikes the waves, crating an unearthly transparencyâ€. Nellie Bower, Miami News Art Critic.
