Description
Ezio Giovannozzi (Italian, born 1882); circa 1930, Signed, Oil Sketch on canvas for Mural, Zeus the Bull taking Europa to Crete, her companions in Phoenicia representing the four seasons; framed. Good condition, a few age related flakes to surface. Height of art 15 1/8 inches (38.5 cm.). X width 24 1/2 inches (62.5 cm.). Note: Ezio Giovanozzi worked in Florence Italy from 1900 through the 1930's. Being from the Giovannozzi family of Architects, Ezio was well placed to receive commissions for murals and is also known to have worked on stained glass designs. During the 1920's he worked for the Firma deMatteis in Florence and this oil sketch is thought to be a preparatory design for a mural. Much of Giovannozzi's work has suffered, first form the German occupation of Florence in 1945 and later from the Arno River flood in 1966.
