Description
African (Ivory Coast), likely 20th century. Pair of hand carved and polychrome Baule Goli (Kplekple) mask of circular form with triangular ray border in white on red ground, black rounded face form with downturned and pierced white and red eyes, incised forms on forehead and cheeks (one with crescents and Xs, the other with teardrop forms), rectangular mouth with exposed teeth and tongue, each topped with rounded horns with white tips. Each unmarked and with wire on back for hanging on wall or mounting. One approximately 21" x 15.25", the other approximately 24" x 18".
