Five woodcuts by Joseph Budko, accompanying Heinrich Heine's story written following the 1840 Damascus Blood Libel. The initials and title page (woodcut) are also designed by Budko. Copy no. 45 out of an edition of 120 copies, with Budko's signature, in pencil, on four woodcuts and on the title page (in all, 320 copies were printed). Bound in a luxurious leather binding (made by Euphorion Einband, Hübel & Denck, Leipzig) with an inlay of leather pieces in a different color and gold decorations.
88, [2] pp., 19 cm. Good condition. Damage to binding. Top edges gilt.
