TWO CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE ON CELADON GROUND VASES, SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY, both of stylized baluster form with white painted details, the sides centering scenes beneath a waisted neck flanked by Buddhistic lion modeled handles, one vase portraying a man, possibly the immortal Zhongli Quan, with puffs of hair at his temples, in his left hand a fan with long bamboo handle high above his head while pointing upward across his chest with his right hand, amidst stylized clouds, the other vase portraying a figure, possibly the immortal Lan Caihe, wearing covering garments and putou, holding a large bowl or shallow circular basket while surrounded by stylized vases, auspicious branches, and vegetal ornaments, a ruyi overhead. Height: 9 1/2" Diameter: 4 1/4"
