A TRIBAL CARVED WOOD FIGURAL DRUM, POSSIBLY BAMUM GRASSLANDS, CAMEROON, THIRD QUARTER 20TH CENTURY, the circular hide covered top on a cylindrical body centering sides of abstract human figures in shallow relief, raised on lozenge shaped legs enclosing spread winged bird alternating shield form details. Height: 21 1/2" Diameter: 13 1/2" NOTE: Julius Carlebach invoice dated 1957 describes a drum, with human figures, Bamum Grassland, Cameroon, Africa priced at $250 - Description may not match this drum. Both invoices included in provenance binder noted an invoice from Mocambicana Gallery with "one drum 900$00."
