Daumier, Honore (France 1808-1879) Lithograph on paper, news print on reverse. 'Actualities No. 383' 'Danger de porter des jupons'. H.D in stone on left, number 46 on right. Collector stamp 'GL' on lower right. Entire spread is separated at fold; Imperial stamp on inside spread. Sheet 10" x 14" (20" x 14" flat) mat paper 13" x 20". Acquired from the estate of George Longstreet, a renown collector of fine original illustrations and prints, and whose collection has appeared in dozens of museums and exhibits over the last four decades. In 1976, Armand Hammer acquired 5000 Daumier objects that George Longstreet began to amass in Paris more than 50 years ago. The Daumier collection is now part of the permanent collection in the Armand Hammer Wing of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
