Russian avant-garde stage and costume designs for theater, ballet, and opera, dating from Petrizky's Constructivist period. An excellent example of 1920s soviet design, reminiscent of the works of Malevich and Bakst. Petrizky subsequently became better known for his utilisation & adaptation of Ukrainian folk art. Provenance: Russian-born British architect Serge Chermayeff (1900-96), with his attractively designed bookplate.
