Description
Five Japanese Cloisonne Vases, Meiji period (1868-1912), of varying sizes, each decorated with an arrangement of flowers against a black or navy blue ground, the largest two vases with petal decoration at the mouth and foot rims, the smallest two with squared sides, h. 5-1/4" to 9-1/2", w. 2" to 4-3/4".
Condition
All with patination to metal rims and scattered pinprick-sized firing anomalies. The largest vase has repairs throughout , particularly on the neck. The second tallest vase has a dent to the rim with accompanying crazing around the lip. This vase also has a few light scratches and a repair along the foot rim with visible inpainting. The third largest vase has a 1/8" loss on one side and scattered light surface wear. The second smallest vase has repairs on three sides with visible hairline cracks. The smallest vase has a 1/8" loss on the shoulder and scattered rubbing to the surface. Please see additional photographs.
