Description
Roman Empire, Syrian manufacture, ca. 3rd to 4th century. An absolutely gorgeous glass sprinkler flask in pink to amber glass with green glass band just below rim. Large bulbous base with 6 pulled feet (three showing how they were pulled and looped to form each), along with 4 vertical ribs also pulled from the molten glass to create. The wide necks is deliberately constricted at the junction of the base which allows the liquid inside to be slowly dispensed - an indication this held precious perfumes that were not to be wasted. The wide rim is in slightly funnel shape and the added green glass band just enhances the beauty of this vessel! Size: 5.75" H (14.6 cm)
