Portrait of "Young Girl" Circa 1850 with West Tennessee provenance, from the estate of Judge Walter Baker Harris and the living estate of Betty Y. Harris of Jackson, "Madison County" Tennessee. A beautiful painting of a young girl with a captivating stare, holding a beautiful bouquet of assorted flowers, wearing a white dress with crochet trim. Painting is unsigned but quite possibly the work of Washington Bogart Cooper (1802 - 1888) a Tennessee portrait artist of the era. Visible area of painting measures 21.3" X 26.5", Overall measurement of frame is 31.5" X 36". Condition - Painting has been restored and relined by a professional. Canvas has mild craquelure to parts of the canvas. Gold leaf period frame has some old restoration and over painting with gold paint.
