Early Americana Punch & Judy Folk Art Puppet Set and An Accompanying Broadside. This Americana puppet set is accompanied by a broadside of the traveling Professor Albert, a preaching ventriloquist who advertised "Free Lecture(s)! What is Satan's Weapon", comprising a Satan figure, a Wizard, a Black Man and a Woman with Broom, an Old Woman in Red Dress, a Woman in Red Dress, a Man with Brown Cap, a Man with Hair, a Skeleton with Gallows, a Horse, an Alligator, a Crib. Second half 19th Century. Tallest puppet (wizard) 24 inches (60.9 cm); longest puppet (alligator) 28 inches (71.1 cm). This set was acquired by Ray B. Pollard in the early 1960s for display in his Western Town Museum, housed in an old school house featured in the 1957 movie "The Big Country". [10 puppets and 2 props]
