Jonathan Winters (artist embellished silkscreen on canvas titled, 'The Day They Got Their Wings,' depicting the fragmented images of WWI dog fighting planes with trees, hearts, bulls eyes and German crosses. Signed on the face in gold in by the artist and actor. Very small Artist Proof, numbered edition of AP 18 of 25, 2004. Canvas size: 21.5"h x 27.125"w. Framed: 26.5"h x 32"w. BIOGRAPHY: Jonathan Winters was born in Dayton Ohio, studied at Kenyon College, and the Dayton Art Institute. After college he was encouraged to enter a talent contest, which led him to a job as a radio disc jockey, and eventually a television personality. His best-known roles are Mork's son Mearth on "Mork and Mindy," Lennie Pike in "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." Winter's art is semi-abstract, inviting narrative through imagery and titles. In the simplification of form and application of medium he can be compared to Kandinsky and Paul Klee.
