Description
Thailand, ca. 16th to 17th century. This is a pair of bronze Buddhas in what appears to be the Ayutthaya style. One is a head fragment with a prominent, stupa-shaped ushnisha; the other is seated in the lotus position with hands restnig in the lap and a downturned face. The head comes with a custom wooden stand. Size of largest: 4.65" L x 2.85" W (11.8 cm x 7.2 cm)
Provenance: Ex- Sarkisian Gallery, Denver, CO, acquired in the 1950's.

Condition
Both have wear. One is a fragment, just the head from a larger piece, but the head itself has clear shape and form despite encrustations. The other has been repaired at the chin and is missing a small part of the base and the tip of the ushnisha.
