Description
Pre-Columbian, Nazca culture, Peru, ca. 100 to 400 CE. This is a distinct pottery vessel with a rhythmic, almost fractal decoration around the body. The vessel has a wide, flared rim, and a tapered spout. The decoration shows a spider-like or possibly octopus animal connected by tongue to the next in a loop around the body of the bowl. The thin spout, jutting out of one side, may have fertility connotations like a pacha. Size: 6" W x 5" H (15.2 cm x 12.7 cm)
