Description
Pre-Columbian, Chupicuaro, Pre-Classic Mexico, ca. 300 to 100 BCE. This figure depicts a slender young female, perhaps used ceremonially as symbolic of the concept of fertility or the passage of a young woman into womanhood. She is depicted wearing a large multi-layered necklace, bracelets on her truncated arms, ear-spools, and an attractive and complex hairstyle. Includes custom display stand, as shown. Comes with custom display stand. Size: 3" H (7.6 cm)

This figure remains in excellent condition, exhibiting mineral and sediment deposits over the surface, attesting to the age and authenticity of this example. Some original red pigment remains. Minor weathering, wear, chipping and abrasions overall. A former collection label remains on the back.
