DESCRIPTION: Circa 1896 - 1920 Philadelphia Museum educational oak display case with nine drawers and one door. Drawers contain various scientific topics including: cotton; coffee and tea; silk and other textiles; rice; wool; sugar; flax; corn; and petroleum. Bottom door of case opens to reveal three shelves with 39 of the original 40 photographs of natural resources processing. Corresponding photograph themes include: harvesting tea, washing gold, shearing sheep, cacao harvest, weaving, and producing silk. These cabinets were created in order to house collections from World's Fairs during that era. MEASUREMENTS: 42-1/4" x 16-3/4" x 12". CONDITION: Photos include discoloration and undulation. Exterior of case with expected wear from use. Missing five paper labels. Wool case with crack to glass. Flax and corn cases with losses to glass near corners. Petroleum case missing glass insert. Petroleum case missing 10 specimens. Staining to paper inserts with losses. Some bottles have leaked and caused damage to paper.
