An exquisite Art Deco enamel watch brooch, set with rubies and pearls, in 18K gold; designed by Swana, Switzerland, circa 1920's - 1940's. This exceptionally fine brooch has been crafted out of 18 karat yellow gold with superb enamel work. The detail on the branches mimics the natural graining in wood and the gold and green enamel leaves are truly stunning. Set across the brooch are 16 round cut rubies, totaling approximately 0.48 carats; they are all a slightly purple red hue, have light - medium tone, medium - strong saturation and very good clarity. The piece has been finished with two, suspended round, saltwater, cultured pearls and a complementary safety clasp. The brooch is in excellent vintage condition, having all its original parts inside and out and keeping good time. It weighs approximately 18.62 grams and measures 3.23 inches (8.2 cm) long by 1.18 inches (3 cm) (wide. The face of the watch has a diameter of 0.51 inches (1.3 cm). It is marked 750 for 18Kt gold (confirmed with acid testing). The face of the watch is marked Swana 17 Rubis Incabloc. The manual winding movement is marked Swiss 17 Jewels. It is interesting to note that this beauty may have been commissioned by a suffragette supporter as it has the movements colors of purple, green and white! Unique!
