Description
Near East, Northwest Iran, Ancient Persia, ca. 8th to 6th century BCE. Rare bronze spear butt used as a counter-balance for the long wooden shaft holding the more lethal pointed end. The rounded end-section could be held to allow a nice deadly thrusting action. Small suspension loop at end. Size: 13" L (33 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was an expert in ancient weaponry and amassed one of the largest collections of ancient weapons in the US.
