I.M. Pei (Chinese American, born 1917) table lamp. Silver metal and white enamel cloisonné 4-light table lamp. Integral circular shade. with conforming straight round standard and circular foot.

Provenance: From the estate of Herbert L. Abrams. He was a radiologist at Stanford and Harvard universities and founding vice-president of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, recipient of the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize. Aside from his medical work he was also an avid art collector. The daughter confirms that their parents purchased the lamp directly from the Fragrant Hill Hotel in China, circa 1984 and had the lamp shipped back to the US. The Abrams then sent a letter to the offices of IM Pei requesting authentication of the lamp. Within some months IM Pei’s office responded with the pictured letter confirming the lamps authenticity.
