Description
British, late 19th/ early 20th century. A rectangular carved oak wood heraldic plaque depicting the shield form coat of arms of the Hughes clan at center with carved lettering at top "Thomae Hughes de Clan fwrog (?) et Elizabeth ?evxoris MDCC XLVI", with oak leaf and acorn decoration to either side of shield, and a ribbon swag at bottom reading "Y Gwir Yn Erbyn Y Byd (The Truth Against The World)". Overall approximately 11.75" x 7.125". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
