Description
English, late 17th/early 18th century. A matched pair of William and Mary period oak side chairs, each with scrolled open work crest over rectangular back with central caning flanked by block and ring turned stiles and surmounted with turned finials over a slightly trapezoidal caned seat raised on front turned and Flemish scroll legs united by a scroll and foliate open work carved stretcher, and joined to the back legs by turned and block stretchers. Approximate height 50.4", width 17.5", seat depth 14", seat height 18.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
