Description
French, 19th century. Gilt bronze cartel clock with round white enameled dial with black Arabic and Roman numerals on chapter ring surrounding face marked with “De Ville” above “Paris”. Case with flaming finial on Neoclassical style urn with drop ring handles above undulating ribbon surrounding female facial mount above dial, scrolled acanthus leaves and rosettes, laurel leaf and berry draped garland at center in front of glazed panel to view pendulum, drop grape cluster at bottom. Overall approximate height 28.3”, width 13.75”, depth 5.125”.
Condition
Overall good condition. Clock is circa 1800s. Scattered areas of oxidation with some pitting (see image #3). Glass face to door is missing and hinged is broken (see #8). Some small fractures to face (see image #4 right side of 30). Movement appears to be in good shape and clock is striking but no pendulum is present. Key is present.
