Description
Stanley Tigerman (American, b. 1930- ) and Margaret McCurry (American, b. 1943- ) for Swid Powell (American, founded 1982- ), "Teaside"-1986, porcelain tea set. Teaside tea service inspired by architecture with tray with curved front and flat open back with X form ornament on repeating panels, recessed niches for placing lidded teapot (in the form of a large barn); a lidded sugar of square form with paneled sloped roof with round finial at top of fitted lid; and a octagonal silo type building with spout acting as creamer, all with modern geometric patterning and sleek white glaze. All marked on bottom with "Swid Powell" above signatures for Chicago architects, Tigerman and McCurry above "Teaside". Teapot height approximately 6.75". Tray measures approximately 10.25" x 12.125". Note: This work is in the permanent collection at the Yale University Art Museum in New Haven, Connecticut.
Condition
Overall excellent condition. Dirt and grime throughout, would benefit from professional cleaning. Each element with very minor wear to underside commensurate with surface contact. Each element with adhesive felt pads to underside. No apparent losses, crazing or cracking.
