A late Victorian 18ct gold, ruby and split pearl locket, circa 1870. Of oval outline, the split pearl with alternating cushion-shape ruby and split pearl surround and cannetille highlights. French assay marks. Length 4.6cms. Weight 12.8gms.

Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.

Possible replacement gems.

General light abrasion and discolouration.

Glazed interior to one side only.

Split pearls well matched, pearly white hue.

The rubies are a well matched medium deep purplish red hue, well saturated, with fair to good clarity and typical inclusions.

Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.
