Description
A GROUP OF SEVEN MISCELLANEOUS ANGLO-AMERICAN SILVER PLATED WARES, 19TH/ 20TH CENTURIES, comprising a pair of English Sheffield candlesticks, worn hallmarks, each with a rectangular baluster form stem with vertical reeded banding and surmounted by an urn form nozzle continuing reeded details enclosing a shell and gadrooned bobèche, raised on a similarly modeled conforming base with four rectangular illegible hallmarks, Height: 10 3/8"; a pair of George III style extendible candlesticks, with columnar stems surmounted by vasiform nozzles and raised on conforming bases, foliate gadrooned banding throughout, Height: 6 1/2"; a Goldsmiths of Newcastle Triple Deposit footed bread basket, of shaped oval form and centering an interior well with engraved scrolling foliate cartouche, enclosed with a gadrooned rim flanked by an shaped arched handle, raised on paw feet, Length: 11 3/8"; a Sheffield oval tray, with reeded trim and raised on tapering feet, Length: 14 1/8"; a Gorham crumb butler, with baluster form wood handle on a rectangular body with conforming hinged lid centering an engraved armorial lion and a scrolling thumbpiece, Length: 10 1/2".
Condition
Both pairs of candlesticks, bread basket, and oval footed tray have worn areas revealing copper base metal, tarnishing, normal minor surface marks, scratches, some minor dings, buildup. The Gorham butler has normal surface scratches, areas of tarnish and wear as well as a minor tiny dent in the lid. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
