A PAIR OF AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE STYLE MAHOGANY OPEN ARMCHAIRS, 19TH CENTURY, the humped crest rail over a pierced central splat embellished with three frond leaves issuing from a short husk trail, flanked by two lancets on either side, between two square tapering stiles leading to shaped arms with reeded handholds and supports, framing the trapezoidal seat covered in later coral corduroy fabric, heightened on square tapering supports joined by an "H" form stretcher. Structurally sound and in good condition. General wear, such as scuffs, scratches, and age cracks throughout, as well as repairs and restorations as is expected for the age of the piece.
