Description
A GEORGE III STYLE CARVED MAHOGANY OPEN ARMCHAIR, 19TH CENTURY, in the Victorian Gothic Revival style, the curved crest rail with carved rope twist trim and scrolling foliate ears over a pierced splat embellished by a network of interlocking lancet apertures radiating out from a central flower head patera, straight stiles issuing shaped tapering arms and supports flanking the deep padded square seat covered in later blue and white leopard print fabric, heightened on marlborough legs joined by an "H" form stretcher. Height: 38 1/2" Width: 26 3/4" Depth: 23 1/4"
Condition
Structurally sound and in good condition. General wear, such as scuffs, scratches, and age cracks throughout, as well as repairs and restorations as is expected for the age of the piece. The network of pierced lancets that make up the splat have a number of minor breaks that are repairable and hardly noticeable.
