late 19th century, the eagle with spread wings, open mouth, and well-carved feathers, holding a mirrored plaque with painted American flags and carved date of "1876", claws holding a flowing bannerette, 15 x 36-1/2 in.. Condition: scattered wear and paint retouch to gilding, possible repairs at bannerette (some later paint at back; see detailed photos). Provenance: From the Collection of Dr. J. C. Gilbert, Jr., Fort Lauderdale, Florida
