Stoneware. China, Qing, Guangxu (1873 - 1908)


Well-proportioned vase with interesting form. Straight sides with nicely rounded shoulder, the neck offset with mogul moulding. The mouth characterfully bulb-shaped, nevertheless smooth and flat above. The curved handle with big-eyed mythical animal masks respectively at beginning and end. The turquoise glaze with compactly fine spirit is composed of red-brown sprinkles, whose design under magnification looks intricately floral to grape-like. On the lightly retracted bottom is the large and beautifully stylized retrospective Six-Character-Mark Da Qing Yongzheng nian zhi 大 清 雍 正 年 製. Flawless condition.
