A BRASS BOUND BRIARWOOD VENEERED LAP DESK
Late 19th century, circa 1880
The lap desk mounted with a plaque 'To Mr. Wm Hamilton from a few friends, Glasgow, 31st Jany 1882.' The desk opening to the leather gilt tooled writing surface, fitted with two glass ink bottles, a series of writing implements a pitch pipe and drafting tools and a leather bound train ticket 'Manchester and Urmston Aug. 31st 1882.' naming Mr. William Hamilton as the ticket holder. The desk having two concealed drawers containing a braided lock.
