Description
Description: Phonoharp Guitar-Harp marked Mandolin, made in Concord, N.C. It has reddish wooden tones with gilded accents. It has a E Pluribus Unum and eagle crest logo and it is black on the base, the handle and the back.

History: The Phonoharp 4/30 chord-zither is also known by many as the "mandolin-guitar-harp" and can be found at the Copper Cliff Museum. Known as a phonoharp, this scroll and pillar body style musical instrument is most often encountered as a piece of art. Both the scroll and pillar on the body of the phonoharp are purely ornamental and serve no functional or structural purpose whatsoever. This harp is considered to be very common, only second to the autoharp. The first patent of this instrument was granted on May 29, 1894.
