Description
Group of Rookwood-Cincinnati related ephemera including two E.T. Hurley Christmas cards (1933 and 1934) and an even rarer Christmas card from Hurley's daughter Joan featuring a jolly snowman. Also included is a rare volume The Making of Nicholas Longworth written by his sister, Clara Longworth de Chambrun. Published in 1933, the hard bound book offers insight into the many members of the illustrious Longworth family including the original Nicholas, his grandson Nick and Maria, founder of Rookwood Pottery. A tremendous amount of Cincinnati history is offered, again, woven around the wealthy and influential Longworths. Nick an attorney and politician, was married to Alice Roosevelt, daughter of President Theodore Roosevelt and later became Speaker of the House of Representatives. The book is 322 pages long and contains 15 black and white photos. The cards and book are in excellent original condition.
