Description
Offered is a Fairbanks scale used to detect counterfeit coins and also serve as a postal scale. The old brass pan has slots for U.S. gold and silver coins, including $1. It has twin beams for coins and postage ($0 to $20 and 0 to 9-1/2 oz.), sliding poises, and black cast iron base with old, original pinstriping. It is 10" long, 4" wide and 5" high. and was made by Fairbanks of St. Johnsbury, Vermont circa 1885.
