Description
ARTHUR "WEEGEE" FELLIG
(1899 - 1968) Photographer and photojournalist, known for his stark black and white street photography. Rare signed book, his Naked City (New York: Essential Books), 1945. 246pp. 8vo., a probable first edition in the "smooth finish" cloth cover. A collection of the great Weegee's most memorable photographs in his first book, inscribed to "Raymond Huether" (believed to be a police officer on one of Weegee's photos), and signed "Weegee 1945". Another inscription appears on the same page by one "Joseph Mulcahy", who likely obtained the book for Huether. Covers and spine a bit soiled, corners slightly bumped, else very good. Rare.
