PRESSED LOOP / LEAF VASE, brilliant teal/peacock green, deep seven-loop bowl with conforming flared rim, raised on a hexagonal base featuring a compressed knop and flared foot, wafer construction. Probably Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1845-1860. 10 3/8" H, 5 7/8" D rim, 5 1/4" DOA foot.
Literature: Like Elsholz, lot 1183.
Provenance: From the Franklin Stoneburner estate collection, Delavan, WI.
Catalogue Note: This is the first example of this vase with the standard Sandwich hexagonal base that we have sold. See lot 633 in this auction for what is likely the Midwestern version with Loop base. Both versions are very rare.
Remarkably undamaged with just a hint of mold roughness to two foot points.
