Description
Sovetskiye letchiki — sokoly nashei Rodiny! [Soviet Aviators, Our Motherland’s Falcons!] a TASS Windows poster (no. 1172 in the series ) by Vladimir Ladyagin (1910-after 1980). Published by TASS, Moscow, 1944, 158.5 x 84.5 cm.
The oversized hand-stenciled posters of the TASS Windows operation were produced in very small quantities and are sought by collectors.
Ladyagin is remembered primarily as a gifted book illustrator. His exposure to poster production is largely limited to the war period. In 2000, his best-known poster work, “I waited for you,” (1945) was reproduced on a Russian stamp commemorating the 55th Anniversary of the end of war.
