Description
After the 1928 Rockwell Kent (American 1882-1971) wood engraving titled "The Lovers", Letterio Calapai (1902-1993) was a Chicago artist who was influenced by Rockwell Kent (1882-1971) and greatly admired his work. This is one of 5 impressions he made from a duplicate copper plate which he found when researching at the Rockwell Kent Legacies (the estate collection and museum). John Gorton was the Director of the Rockwell Kent Legacies at the time. The final print was pulled as a photo silkscreen. There was a lot of controversy over the fact that the Legacies was commissioning reproductions of Kent's work at the time. Very good condition, very minor hardly noticeable soft waviness, sight 6.75" x 10.5" framed size 14.75" x 18" Start Bid $200
