Description
A Fabergé gilded silver and translucent enamel photograph frame, workmaster Michael Perchin (Mikhail Perkhin), St Petersburg, circa 1890, original Fabergé scratched inventory number 1115. The round frame enameled in a vibrant translucent raspberry enamel over a spiraling sunburst engine-turned ground, applied with chased entwined ribbons of acanthus leaves, the aperture set by seed pearls, the outer border with fluted gilded silver rim, surmounted with a cast and chased bow knot, the back with heart-shaped gilded silver strut. Dimensions: 3 1/4 h x 2 3/4 in. w (8.2 x 7 cm). Provenance: Sotheby's New York, 19 April 2001, lot 49.
