Description
After Alexander Calder (American, 1898-1976), second half 20th century. A woven wool pile rug after Calder's 'Boomerang' depicting a black boomerang with red, yellow, black and blue shapes. Woven signature to the bottom right 'Calder'. The underside stitched 'Calder H.C.' (for "Hors Commerce," which translates not originally intended for sale). Approximate height 81", width 57".
Condition
With minor soiling overall, and some light staining. Still plush and soft, would likely clean nicely. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
